After completing my undergraduate in Australia and stints in mixed practice and emergency care in Australia and the UK I returned to complete my PhD on koala retrovirus at the University of Queensland. This was followed by postdoctoral research scientist positions at the the QLD dept primary industries and the University of Gottingen before taking up a lectureship at the newly opened Nottingham vet school, where I have been since. I run a research programme in virology, alongside teaching into the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. I joined the newly formed microbiology college in 2020 and am currently serving as secretary
