Maria Luisa Marenzoni is Associate Professor of Veterinary Infectious Diseases at the Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Perugia, Italy. She graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 2000 and subsequently obtained a PhD in Equine Science, a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Statistics, a Master’s degree in Management of Health and Social Care Services, and a Specialisation in Food Hygiene. In 2021, she was awarded the de facto Diploma of the European College of Veterinary Microbiology.

She teaches veterinary epidemiology, infectious diseases, animal health and hygiene in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production degree programmes. She also carries out diagnostic activities in the field of animal infectious diseases at the Department of Veterinary Medicine.

Her main research interests include veterinary microbiology and diagnostics, infectious disease epidemiology, molecular biology and virology applied to veterinary diagnosis, biosecurity, and One Health. She has participated in international activities and projects concerning laboratory management and infectious disease surveillance, particularly in Africa and Europe, and has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific publications.

She is a member of the Board of the European Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (EAVLD) and of the Board of the Associazione Donne Medico Veterinario (ADMV).
